Description

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice nurse (APN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical care of Rush Oak Park Hospital Emergency Department patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the ROPH medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.

Knowledge:
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN): Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Current State of Illinois Advanced Practice

Nurse (APN) licensures required.

  • Specialization as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse with a Pediatric Certification is required
  • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization. Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program required
  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing required.
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS and PALS certification is required within one year of employment

Physician Assistant (PA)

  • Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant licensure required
  • Current certification from National Certification Commission for Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) required or other recognized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) required
  • Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program required; Master's Degree preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment
